Everyone has their favorite moment of a wedding. It could be the moment the bride walks down the aisle and the only person she’s looking at is the groom. It could be moment they vow to stay committed forever. Or the first kiss as husband and wife. Everyone has the moment that forces them to become a little teary-eyed.
My favorite moment of the wedding hands down is the father-daughter dance. Perhaps it’s because I have such a great relationship with my dad, but I truly adore this moment. It’s the symbolic passing of the bride becoming a woman, but for one last moment, it seems that she’s still “daddy’s little girl”. I love that fact that for a few minutes on such a special day, the bride and her father get to spend with no interruptions, just a moment to be well, father and daughter. I love the songs that are chosen for this moment. It may be a song they sang together while she grew up, or a song that’s she’s telling her dad it’s going to be ok. No matter what it is, it’s a song that may not make sense to anyone else but them.
Now that I have a daughter, I am anxiously awaiting the day that she gets to dance with her father on her wedding day. But until that day comes, I cherish every father-daughter dance I get to capture. With each wedding, I fight to hold back the tears. Other times I just let them pour. I feel so blessed and honored to capture my favorite moment time and time again. Trust me when I say, it never gets old.

So my husband and I are going to be out of town until the 22nd of September. We’ll be shooting Genelle and Buzz’ wedding in Maui! I cannot wait to be apart of this momentous occasion! So while we are in paradise, I’m going to try my hardest to work at little as possible. If I have been in contact with you the past few weeks, do not fret, I’ll be working on your weddings and shoots, but I probably won’t be answering too many emails or phone calls. So please don’t think I’m trying to ignore you, I’m just wanting to kick back and relax with my husband…
On another note, most of you know that Daniel and I are expecting our first baby at the end of November. Abigail Lauren will hopefully enter this world November 21st or 22nd so I’ll try and take some time off during November and all of December. If you interested in wanting an engagmeent or family shoot before Christmas, please email me so that we can schedule a session as soon as possible. Thanks again for all of your love and encouragement during this new chapter of our lives!

A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of attending my first WPPI convention, which is a convention for photographers. During the hustle and bustle of the convention floor, my friend Abi decided that we needed to do a shoot in the desert away from the lights of the strip to a place that seemed forsaken.
So Brooke, Richelle, Abi and I got into the car with the music blasting and our hair blowing in the wind, and headed towards the mountains to see if we could find the perfect spot. We stumbled upon tall jungle reeds which perfectly hid a broken down farm. It was a photographers dream: old farm equipment, a rusty old trailer and tucked behind the reeds in the middle of the desert was a pond. Yes, a pond!
I am so thankful I met these girls and I wish for the world they all lived closer. But oh what the trouble we would get into. So here’s a few shoots from our little adventure. I hope they bring a smile to your face as they did mine.
The Lovely Abi
The Sweet and Soultry Richelle
And the oh so Fabulous Brooke
