From the moment I met them, I became giddy for their day. I even called my mom ecstatic about their plans. As photographers, we live for the extraordinary. And Bijou and Callie did not disappoint. They chose to get married in an open field in Brea Canyon. Her father, a carpenter, made doors that she walked through to meet her groom. The bridesmaids handmade their bouquets and twisted and knotted their wrap dresses so they would be uniquely different. Bijou and Callie even chose to ride off in a custom-made VW van. Their day was perfectly surrounded by friends and family who had witnessed their love blossom from friendship to life long love. And I was oh so blessed to be apart of it. Bijou and Callie: Thank you for letting me into your world even if it was only for a day. I am envious of your love for your friends, family and one another only because you are so wise beyond your years. And thank you for being such a great example of what it means to truly love life and to live in the moment; especially when it comes to your most important day.
“Underneath the moon, underneath the stars
Here’s a little heart for you
Up above the world, up above it all
Here’s a hand to hold on to
You’re just the one that I’ve been waiting for
I’ll give you all that I have to give and more
You’ll be the one that I’ll love forever more
I’ll be here holding you high above it all”

Throughout their day, Lucas and Yadira focused on one another. He wrote her a love letter that only she would read. She found herself whispering in his ear while a smile peered across his face. And in the quiet moments, they’d steal a kiss from one another. Their day, was snapshots of emotion. They may not remember every word that was said, or every detail that was made, but they will forever remember the moments that made their day special. The things that separated their day from all others.
